Q&A

Post a Question/Note

Instructors can post a note or a question using the Q&A section of Piazza. Following are the steps:

  1. Select “Q&A”.
  2. Then, click on the “New Post” button.Screenshot showing steps 1 and 2.
  3. Select “Question” or “Note” as the post type.
  4. Select the audience for your post. You can either post it for the entire class or post it for a smaller class group or an individual student.
  5. Select a folder to post in. You can select more than one folders.
  6. Write a one line summary.
  7. Enter the content.
  8. Select whether you want to send an immediate email notification, and click Post.Screenshot showing steps 3 through 8.

Post a Poll in Piazza

Instructors can also post a poll in Piazza. Following are the steps:

  1. Select “Q&A”.
  2. Then, click on the “New Post” button.Screenshot showing steps 1 and 2.
  3. Select “Poll” as the post type.
  4. Select a folder to post in. You can select more than one folders.
  5. Write a one line summary.
  6. Enter the content.
  7. Enter your poll choices.
  8. Submit an explanation or correct answer, if there is one.
  9. Select whether students can vote on one choice, or multiple choices.Screenshot for Steps 3 through 9.
  10. Select how long you want the poll to remain open. The available options are 2 hours, 6 hours, 1 day, 2 days, or 7 days.
  11. Select when you would like poll results to be visible to voters, if at all.
  12. Select whether students can revote or not.
  13. Choose the anonymity settings for the poll.
  14. Choose when to publish your poll to the class.
  15. Select whether you want to send an immediate email notification, and click on Post.Screenshot showing steps 10 through 15.

Insert an Image, File or a Video to the Post

Instructors can insert an image, file or a video to the post. Following are the steps:

  1. Select “Q&A”.
  2. Then, click on the “New Post” button.Screenshot showing steps 1 and 2.
  3. Select a question, note or poll option as the post type.
  4. Fill out the content of your post.
  5. Click “Insert”.
  6. Then select “File”, “Video” or “Image” as per the need.Screenshot for steps 3 through 6.

Delete a Post

There are two ways to delete posts in Piazza. Currently, only instructors are able to delete posts. The first option is to locate the post in the Q&A feed on the left side of the page.

  1. Hover your mouse over it so that the downward arrow appears.Screenshot for Step 1
  2. Then, select “Delete” from the dropdown menu.                                    Screenshot for step 2

The second option is to open the post and hover your mouse over the body of the post. This will cause the “Actions” menu to appear.

  1. Click on “Actions”.
