Design Your Course

Updated on January 9, 2025

Canvas is a highly adaptable and versatile tool, which can be completely customized for your class and your students. Conceptualizing the organization (modules or not, group assignments, etc) before beginning to construct your site is key to integrating the course syllabus with Canvas. The following pages will help you identify strategies and designs for building a course site, as well as teach you about some of the more nuanced aspects of Canvas (linking to other pages, embedding videos, for example). Also be sure to click through the three model course pages provided, for design and functionality inspiration.
